The T81 was one of the first 3 litre F1 cars, lt was unusual in having a removable upper body and nose
section giving such easier access to the radiator, battery, brake & clutch cylinders etc, Although large
heavy cars, which handled indifferently until developed by John Surtees, the T81 was reliable· and ideal for
use by small private teams,
The works team finished 1966 with three second, two third, two fourth, and two fifth places and at the
Mexican GP Surtees won the race after starting from pole position,
The same car also won the 1967 South African GP, driven by Pedro Rodriguez
