Fergusson Climax P99 4WD by SMTS Ref SMTS-RL114 : GP : British GP 1961 Driver(s): Jack Fairman, Stirling Moss Item : White Metal Scale 1/43
Built to demonstrate Ferguson’s four wheel drive system, the P99 was one of the last front-engined Grand Prix cars completed and saw most of its competition in non-championship races. The kit offers three options; the International Trophy where Fairman retired with transmission failure, the British Grand Prix where he was disqualified due to receiving push starts and Moss then took the car over for an extended test, only to be pulled in, and the Gold Cup where Moss demonstrated the advantages of 4WD in damp conditions and won comfortably. The kit parts are well cast and close attention will be needed to the instructions as certain versions need certain small parts fitting while others don’t. The decals are clearly printed and the instructions show all three race versions, though they don’t tell you which is which!
