Founded in 1983, Scale Model Technical Services Ltd is based in the historic town of Hastings on the Sussex coast in south-east England where we employ a small dedicated team of craftsmen, many of whom have a lifelong passion for cars and motorsport, aircraft and all forms of model-making

Although initially just manufacturers of 1:43 scale collectors model cars, today SMTS also makes a range of 1:200 scale aircraft as well as ranges for other model companies and undertakes special commissions. We have recently introduced a new series of models of historic space vehicles

The vast majority of our models are made from high-quality casting metal although a few are moulded in resin. They feature rubber-like tyres, plated parts, finely detailed photo-etched components and decals as appropriate. Our car and space models are also available as kits containing between 40 and 70 parts for the builder to paint and assemble. Aircraft models are currently only available fully finished

Our ever-expanding ranges now feature over 200 cars and 100 aircraft in different liveries and versions

An important part of our production are the varied commissions we undertake for other model companies, for serious collectors and for industry. As well as a comprehensive range of classic American cars and a wide variety of construction equipment models made for clients we have made many different types of models from motorcycles to dolls-house accessories, from boats, trains and trucks to figures, military vehicles and lineside accessories for model railways. Product launch and presentation models have been commissioned and even a cutaway Boeing 777 with full interior detail and remotely controlled lighting that was over 2.5 metres long
