In 1952, the Belgian Grand Prix was awarded the honorary - but highly prized - title of European GP. In order to run it on the splendid circuit of Spa-Francorchamps, the Belgian Johnny Claes rents the 16Ts 19GCS from Amédée Gordini. This is the only time that a "Le Mans type" sports car has competed in a World Drivers' Championship GP.
