Additional Information

Following their successful 1959 and 1960 seasons, Jack Brabham left Cooper at the end of 1961 to set up his own team, Bruce McLaren stepping-up to lead the Cooper Team in 1962 with Tony maggs as his team mate.

The new T60 was typically simple designe developped from the previous year's car and fitted with the new 1.5 litre Climax FWMV V8 engine mated to Cooper's own six-speed gearbox.

Although slimmer and lighter than before the car was no match for the technically superior Lotus 25 and heralded the slow decline of Cooper in Grand Prix racing.

Bruce McLaren managed to win the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix after both Graham Hill and Jim Clark retired and went on to finish a creditable third in that year's championship. It was however Cooper's only win in the 1.5 litre era, Bruce McLaren following Jack Brabham's example by leaving to set up his own team at the end of 1965.
